As leaders in our field, we’re always looking forward. Our years of experience have taught us the value of being lifelong learners and innovators.
Technology is instrumental in how we can improve patient care, from in-depth evaluations to tailored treatments. We aspire to educate our patients, and our technology allows us to teach patients about their eye health in detail.
Discover How We Use Technology in Our Eye Care
Technology is truly changing the game when it comes to vision care. Digital imaging has significantly improved the way we diagnose eye problems and manage eye diseases. With more detailed information at our fingertips, we can tailor our care to your needs, whether it’s your vision, eye health, or lifestyle.
Our technology also allows us to stay connected with our patients. We can complete tests quicker and receive quality results. We have more time to give patients personalized attention, so we can provide an in-depth experience every time you visit us.
Take a look at the technology available at Mayfair Optometric Clinic to learn more.
OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography)
OCT (optical coherence tomography) is a noninvasive imaging technology that takes highly detailed cross-sectional images inside the eye. We can look in-depth at layers of eye tissue, deeper than just the surface.
We can monitor how eye health changes over time, supporting our ability to diagnose conditions such as glaucoma or macular degeneration. With OCT, we can see eye anatomy in detail, allowing us to tailor your care and provide timely treatment when necessary.
ZEISS CLARUS 500 Fundus Imaging
The ZEISS CLARUS 500 fundus camera is a high-resolution digital imaging system used to evaluate the fundus (the back of the eye). The noninvasive scan can provide details of blood vessels and nerve tissue to help detect eye diseases, such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and macular degeneration.
The ZEISS CLARUS 500 can capture tiny details precisely and in full colour to support diagnostic accuracy. The widefield also allows a fuller view so we can see more of the eye in a single image.
Visual Field Analyzer
Visual field testing, or perimetry, helps us detect eye diseases, like glaucoma and optic nerve diseases, by measuring a person’s peripheral (side) vision.
Peripheral vision is what you can see around you without moving your eyes or head. We use peripheral vision to detect movement and support night vision.
With a visual field analyzer, patients can identify visual signals, and a computer records individual responses. Analyzing the full scope of your visual field can help us detect developing eye issues.
LipiScan
LipiScan is an innovative imaging technology that can help diagnose and manage conditions affecting the meibomian glands (oil glands inside the eyelids). The noninvasive scan captures the inner eyelids, providing a detailed look at the glands. Meibomian gland dysfunction, caused by inflamed or blocked glands, is a common cause of dry eye.
This technology can improve diagnostic accuracy for evaluating contact lens wear over time and the severity of dry eye disease.
Lens Edger
With an in-office lens edger, glasses customization is easier and more efficient. Our edger has the capability to create same-day single-vision lenses, allowing patients to receive an updated prescription after their eye exam.
This technology also enables us to better customize each patient’s lenses according to their specific needs, providing them with a one-of-a-kind pair of glasses with an accurate and comfortable fit.

We respect and acknowledge the lək̓ʷəŋən People, a subset of the Coast Salish, also known today as the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations, on whose territory we do our work. Our clinic recognizes the colonization, attitudes, and systems that have been put in place that have drastically altered Indigenous Peoples relationship with the land.
We as a team recognize the importance of educating ourselves on the systemic oppression of settler generations that has greatly changed the lives of Indigenous Peoples. We place the utmost importance on reconciliation and will continue to aid in this effort however we can.
